What is Cultural Economic Development?

“Cultural economic development means leveraging our creative talent, heritage and cultural assets to stimulate, support and enhance economic growth and build community prosperity.” (Michigan, 8)*1

Ta3leeleh is a grassroot community-based forum that brings people together from around the Kingdom, region and globe to stand at the microphone and share their ideas and interests in front of a supportive audience in a safe and comfortable environment.  Ideas and interests can includes: research papers, philosophies, personal experiences, inventions, topics of interests, speeches, debates, the arts, etc.

Objectives: (by bringing people together we aim to…)

  • Engender a value for IDEAS, INTERESTS and ACTION
  • Encourage people to share and develop their ideas and interests
  • Empower the general public to perceive themselves as thinkers
  • Summon Jordanians to expose their hidden skills, ideas and talents
  • Expose the public to other’s ideas, interests and experiences and create appreciation
  • Promote the status and value of Jordan’s intellects
  • Break cultural stereotypes and discrimination
  • Create interests groups and communities
  • Highlight similarities between communities by discovering their underlying passions
  • Build self-empowerment
  • Become a cultural and idea incubator
  • Strengthen and align Jordan’s national identity

Problem Ta3leeleh Is Addressing:

  • Underestimation on the power of ideas and culture
  • Hidden, untapped and discourage readers, thinkers and doers
  • Widening socio-economic gap that is creating rifts and fragmentations in our national identity (i.e. “East and West Amman, etc.)
  • Dangerous and malicious stereotypes among ourselves as well as to the outside world and vice versa
